5 books that are worth your time

I love to read, and I read often. So I plan on throwing out some great book recommends a couple of times a month. Here is the first in installment of books that are “worth your time”:

  1. The first is a Social Networking book. If you are interested in marketing and networking in the geeked out way I am then this book will blow your mind. In a world where Internet 2.0 is changing the way people organize this book maps out the new internet climate. I’m really enjoying this book: Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing without Organizations by Clay Shirk Either way you slice it it comes up brilliant!
  2. The Crucified God by Richard Baukham This one seems to be going around IHOP lately as everyone seems to be reading it, and for good reason. It’s an excellent book. Baukham takes a rather similar approach to Christ as Bonnehoffer does; looking at the Gospels through Hebrew mindsets, as opposed to the popular Greek mindsets. He helps open your eyes to the divinity of Christ in a very real way.
  3. Amusing Ourselves To Death By Neil Postman A wonderful and yet scary book about the effect entertainment has not only on our culture but on the actions of the every day person. People have officially become driven by one thing: be entertained. Postman is a brilliant sociologist and worthy of your time.
  4. New Jack: Guarding Sing Sing By Ted Conover This book is off the chain! This Guy Conover actually wanted to write about what life is like on the inside of one of the most notorious prisons in the world; Sing Sing. He becomes a guard there and gives one of the most amusing and horrifying accounts of this prison. Was worth my time, and will be yours.
  5. Last but certainly not least is an oldie but goody: Why Revival Tarries By Leonard Ravenhill I have read this book about 20 different times, no joke. One of my all time favorites for 2 reasons: 1. Leonard writes it like a beautifully delivered sermon, so it’s simply fun to read. 2. Because every time I read it I finish wanting to know Jesus more and continue my personal life mandate to be a man of prolific prayer. If you haven’t already read this, Read it Read it Read it!! you’ll love it!

Well that’s all for today folks I’m out like a Royals batter on any given night…
