So to re cap the last couple of days. Still working from the moment I wake up till I go to bed.
Yesterday I preached at the morning service of camp. I got to present to them the message of the gospel, more specifically the purpose of atonement. Preaching to teenagers is much harder than preaching to adults. Not because teenagers are dull or easily bored, because they actually are not. It’s hard for 2 reasons.
1. Fear. Not human fear, but the fear of the Lord. There is a brevity that comes with teaching adolescents about the things of God. They’re hearts and minds are so moldable, that you feel the weight of making sure to pastor their hearts with wisdom from heaven and not just hype them up with words to get them pumped up. I rather give them the tools of the word the best way I know how in order to help them effectively walk out their sanctification.
2. With teens you have to really know the Word. Because you have to make it as simple as possible so they both pay attention, and understand. Yesterday when I talked about atonement. I realized that I was going to have to start all the way back in Ex. 24 and explain how Yom Kipour was foreshadowing what Jesus would do for us thousands of years later. Don’t know if I effectively got them to understand, but the response at the was good. I am still and hopefully always learning.
I love preaching to teens. I may even have some audio for you all later from that message.
I also got to interview some of the teens testimonies for God TV so you can expect that this weekend during the Fascinate Teen conference here at IHOP which will be live on God TV.
So I have a FULL day again today. However, thanks to the advice from my beloved fiance’ I am going to take some more breaks this week. So maybe I’ll blog a little more.
much love to you all. .::zack

Looking forward to hearing some of your preaching:)! I pray that the Lord continues to strengthen you with might in the inner man by the Holy Spirit, and that He continues to give you clarity in the knowledge of Jesus, enlightening your eyes with the spirit of wisdom and revelation. This is a little wierd, but a blue light special in isle 12. amen.

For atonement imagery you could actually go as far back as Genesis 3 to what Irenaeus labeled the Protoevangelion. Even so, expiatory covering of sin is certainly interwoven throughout the Scriptures. Hopefully your campers will gain the vital foundation of a living faith centered upon the pure gospel. This is the sort of thing God TV should be taking note of.
