The Gloves Come Off
This morning I preached to our youth congregation at IHOP. It’s definitely not my first time preaching to that group, nor will it be the last. However today I had the hardest time trying to articulate what I felt the Lord was wanting me to say to this group of young people. Though the teens responded to my call for wholeheartedness, many more would have- had I any articulation for what I was trying to say.
We live in perilous times. Our nation is at a crossroads, and the church right behind it. Never has there been a time to articulate what God is saying, what the Word is saying then now. This blog has been a very helpful tool in helping me to cultivate my message. I have appreciated the feedback on my writing, and the punch back on my theology. However I have been soft on declaring anything to bold- for fear of getting into arguments and debates. This fear has caused me to hold back what I know to be true and hurt my ability to articulate clearly.
No Longer- The gloves are coming off.
There are many friends, and a few family members, who disagree with my theology and wish to constantly challenge me in it. Challenge if you like, but I regret that I have watered down the truth of what God is saying for fear of controversy. The gloves are coming off!
Let me put it as plain as I can:
We are living in the generation in which the Lord will return. I have lived my entire life knowing this reality. Dreams and visions, signs and wonders, prophecy and scriptural confirmation. I am here to personally testify that Jesus Christ is coming back to the Earth.
The Church in this hour is not ready. We must take the grace awarded us by the cross to walk worthy of His calling. We must have boldness and unction to declare to the nations of the Earth to “repent, for the Kingdom of God is at Hand” and we must have a tenacity to see souls come into the kingdom.
We must consecrate our hearts so our love will not grow cold.
We must rejoice in the freedom given us by the cross, and cast off anything that would hinder us from running the race Christ has set before us.
We must be found watching and waiting.
We need revival in the Earth.
We need preachers not afraid to preach the reality of Hell, and the good news of the cross that can not only save us from it, but sustain us until the day He returns.
We need a church waiting for is return, not speculative if He will at all.
Now is this time to buy oil for “midnight” is coming and the Bridegroom will come, those unprepared will be found wanting.
False prophets are coming to deceive many. We as the body of Christ, sanctified by the the blood of Christ, must have a spirit of Wisdom and Revelation from heaven to decipher what is true and what is false.
The current social justice movement, and humanism in the church is preparing the Earth to receive the Anti- Christ. We must have the truth of the gospel to declare in that hour.
We need our eyes fixed on Christ, not distracted by charismatic uprisings or theological watchdogging. In Christ we are one body, in Him we must rest. So that a harvest of souls is not lost.
“He’s not a baby in a manger anymore, He’s not a broken man on a cross, he didn’t stay in the grave, and he’s not staying in Heaven for ever!”
We need more grace.
Indeed. I need articulation.
I am giving myself to the subject of the end of the age, not as a theological dissertation, but because that age is upon us. I’m sure the controversy will get hot around here, but know I have no interest in the argument. I understand both sides and I’m moving forward preparing to be a trumpet blast to the nations not an apologetic to the fray.
Bless you all and here’s to a new season.
…and Lord haste the day.

Zack, I’m with you on this; it’s in my heart too. Except I’m probably a lot more of an equivocator than you are. Since you cited a Misty verse, I’ll cite one too: “How far will You let me go, how abandoned will You let me be!?”
Excellent stuff Zack. I have to admit that I wondered why you seemed allusive on the these topics. I am so glad to see this. (not that my opinion really amounts to much) but I think you will begin to burn even brighter as you give vent to these realities. Like a stream hindered slows and backs up untill it is opened up.
How can we truly minister at a time like this without having these things in focus and still be relevent with heaven? These things have to mold and shape what we are doing in this hour or we will be out of step and inadequet to really address the needs of this season. I believe that this will be one of the great dividing lines in the days ahead in much of the church. Far too many are not even aware of the time we are living in, they would rather argue the theology of it than to really entertain the idea we stand on the door step of the greatest trials the earth has ever known. How in the world could they be ready if they don’t even believe it, let alone be prepared to minister to a hurting and desperate people in the midst of it. They will be too busy trying to get the oil they need just to survive, if they can even do that.
Having said that, it’s time to buckle up- we are in for one heck of a ride.
Blessings Zack
John
Right On!
I so appreciate all you guys at IHOP… Your dedication to Jesus and your fervency expressed through the Prayer Room webstream and all of your blogs encourages and fans the flame of many of us who can’t be in KC. When I see you all being bold, it encourages me to be more bold too. Thanks so much!
