Random Rantings Friday issue #92

2008 November 9

In the swing of things I’m back and it’s good to be. Yes right that is back is random Friday rantings, and to be back excited I am- Saturday is it. Further ado without- Started let’s get!

So I’m in a war. Facing dangerous battles with the vermin in my neighborhood. Whether it be mice, raccoons, possums, ground hogs etc (yes I’m classifying them as vermin) I’m determined to win. To long has my trash been broken into and scattered aboard!! To long has my yard been dug up by tunnels! To long my worthy Nemesis, soon I will have justice and smite thee righteously!

So this is the worst case of “cold feet” I’ve ever heard of. A man in Japan nervous about his wedding decided to burn down the hotel he was getting married at so he wouldn’t have to talk to his fiance’- See where passive aggression gets us?

Everyone has their piece to convey based on President Elect Obama. Is America in for Judgment NOW that he’s elected? Is America going to get better NOW that he’s elected? What is our response as believers? Should we be worried? Should we be mad? My in-box has been full with these vary questions. So let me break it down as simple as possible. We as the church are to be salt and light to the nations preaching Christ and His coming. Then We pray for our leaders (ITim.2) NO MATTER who they are. We never look to our nation to bring righteousness, but to Christ. We pray, we proclaim Christ, and righteousness comes through people receiving grace of Christ. Our job is to bring to comfort of the gospel. Oh and don’t forget Rev. 19; we win in the end.

I met “Mrs. I” yesterday! I was so happy to finally meet her face to face. Mrs. I, thank you for your readership and support over the years.

So if you are ever wanting to clean up around the house and can’t find a broom, word to the wise: DON”T USE A BLOW TORCH!!! I wish I was kidding but that is exactly what one guy in Georgia did. And yes it ended the way you’d suspect it to!

I’m sick today. So to pass the time while resting I watched Lawrence of Arabia. I love old movies, and classic ones at that. I love Citizen Cane. Casablanca, Charade, and To Catch a Thief are in my top ten favorite movies of all time. That said, Lawrence of Arabia wins the Zack Hensley Award for Lameness

So I have been studying to very different subjects this past week. One being that of Reformed Soteriology, the other being that of the Emergent church/ social gospel. Though I have problems with Limited Atonement and the “Irresistible grace” that it leads to Biblically (though gaining clarity). I cannot pin point how most of what is said by the Emerging church is even within the Christian faith. “Wisdom is crying out in the streets…”

Second part to the rant above I just want to be clear for those wanting to know more about Christ. Jesus wasn’t just the son of God, He was God. He was fully God and fully man (col. 1) To deny that he was the “I am” is to deny your salvation. I usually get into doctrinal debates here, but I feel with want is being said out there, there are a couple of things I WILL not comprise on:

  1. The deity of Christ. Jesus was not just a man, but was God in human form. Yet fully human. Apart of the three person trinity. To know this is crucial
  2. The Bible has NO errors. It’s is the living Word of God. All of scripture has been breathed out by God. (2Tim 3:16) This too is important to not compromise.
  3. We as Christians were not First called to fix the world, but to lead people to the one who can and will, through the peace and and kindness of Christ, and the word of our testimony.

All these things I will write about soon enough, I just want to be clear.

We got a dog! and her name is Lucy. She is completely trained and super chill. I’ll have to do a post on just how great she is soon.

Well that’s all for today. It’s hot out there! Don’t forget to watch your kids around water.

I miss Dave Munsey.

Peace out, and pray for our new President!

It seems Obama is considering immediately using his executive powers to reverse Bush’s anti-stem cell stand, and pro offshore drilling. I thought he said he was listening to the American people but apparently he thinks his way is best. I fear the presidency in recent years has become more of a monarchy than the leader of a democracy, and obams will continue that trend. It seems that office is more and more bypassing the wishes of the public. Anyone having unlimited presidential powers is what concerns me, no matter what their party affiliation. So perhaps we need to pray against that as well. Here’s the link:

So glad you guys are happy!

    God bless.

Good to see the random rant back in circulation.

Nice looking dog! It could be a good start on your vermin problem, but a .22 works good too, although most of your critters are probably nocturnal (like you used to be :) ), so it might not work out so well. You are outside the city arnt you?

Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking when they do retarted stuff like that hotel thing. (not to mention the blow torch guy.)

I’m hoping for Nebuchadnezaar type encounters in the night for our new president.

Hope your feeling better by now.

    Blessings to you bro.
